Experiments with the masking tape - series of videos where we test different tips and tricks we've found in the internet about using masking tape for watercolor artworks. We've made 8 experiments and this is conclusions we've made.

We've used 3 types of paper: 100% cotton watercolor paper (300 gsm), Traditional watercolor paper with cotton (260 gsm) and cellulose-based watercolor paper (280 gsm) from Authentic line.

What we did:
- the work should be completely dry when peeling off the tape
- used hair dryer for easier tape removal
- peeled the tape at 90 degree angle
- dabbed masking tape on clothing before application
- used different types of masking tapes
- used freezer for easier tape removal
- used a knife for easier tape removal
- moisten the tape before removal

We didn't face any difficulties when removing masking tape from 100% cotton or Traditional watercolor paper. The tape can be peeled quite easy using any of mentioned options. While Authentic watercolor paper faced a lot of difficulties. For this type of paper the best options would be to use hair dryer or put your works to the freezer for 15 minutes. Then you can peel the tape without significant damage. Other options could be quite risky. We recommend to take 100% cotton paper pads or Traditional watercolor paper pads if you plan to use masking tape for your watercolor works.
